The month of October warrants all the fall themed activities in our house. I created this pumpkin unit study to be a great resource with printable worksheets that can help you to celebrate fall while still accomplishing your lesson plans.

The Pumpkin Unit Workbook is a great way to include fun pumpkin activities throughout the fall months with your younger students.

These printable activities are a fun way to teach many subjects to young learners during the month of October for teachers and the homeschooling mom. You can head to the bottom of the post to find a link to our shop to grab your Pumpkin Unit Workbook.

Science

Great for pre-kindergarten through first grade, this printable pack includes a science lesson where younger students learn the anatomy of a pumpkin by tracing the different parts of the pumpkin to learn pumpkin vocabulary.

These fall activities also include life cycle of a pumpkin worksheets. Younger students can trace the different stages with the fun pumpkin life cycle worksheet. While older kids can draw pictures of the different stages.

Kids of all ages will enjoy a pumpkin investigation. A fun activity would be to visit a pumpkin patch and then complete a pumpkin activity where young learners can use a real pumpkin to identify pumpkin pieces. Using their five senses, young learners will complete the pumpkin science worksheet.

Observe the pumpkin parts and have students write what they see, feel, hear, smell, and taste. What does the outside of a pumpkin look like? Perform a pumpkin dissection. What does the seed coat feel like? What does the inside of the pumpkin smell like? This is a wonderful way to experience a pumpkin in real life.

Students will also record the sequence of their pumpkin investigation in the correct order. They will use the printable worksheets to draw what the outside of a pumpkin looks like at the beginning of their pumpkin investigation.

Then they will draw what their own pumpkins looked like in the middle of their science lesson when they open the pumpkin and see the pumpkin seeds. After carving the pumpkin students will draw what their pumpkin looks like at the end of their pumpkin investigation.

Art

Hands-on activities are one of the best ways to learn. This Pumpkin Unit Workbook is a great resource for incorporating hands-on activities with a printable book.

This printable pack has a pumpkin theme across multiple subjects for an excellent way to incorporate fun pumpkin activities into your fall lessons. Kids of all ages will enjoy pumpkin crafts where they conduct science experiments of mixing colors.

Mix colors together to create orange and green paint. Then paint an orange and green pumpkin to create the various stages of a pumpkin.

Another great addition to this downloadable file is the pumpkin coloring page where young learners can color the pumpkin patch.

Math

Add to your math lesson plans with the pumpkin theme math section of this printable pack. Included is a printable activity for younger students to strengthen their fine motor skills by tracing numbers.

Older kids can practice addition and subtraction and number and color words with pumpkin plants.

Add together the orange and green pumpkins and write the sum.

Complete the patterns with either an orange, white, or green pumpkin.

Language Arts

This printable pack has the perfect activity for young learners to practice their vocabulary. The Pumpkin Prepositions game is a great activity for students to have so much fun while also building their vocabulary. Sing a fun song and take turns hiding the printable pumpkin for a fun game.

Include writing in your fall lesson plans with the pumpkin writing paper. Students will draw a picture of a pumpkin then trace the sentence for more practice with their fine motor skills. Next students will draw another picture of something that starts with p. Older kids can complete the sentence on their own.

Fall is the perfect time to work on rhyming with the poems included in this downloadable file that have a pumpkin theme. This printable set of poems are great resources for identifying rhyming words with pre-kindergarten through first grade students.

Bible

There is also a page of taceable Bible verses included in this printable book as another wonderful way for students to practice their fine motor skills.

The book list for young learners is a great addition to these printable activities. With five books for younger students, this list is sure to have a book that will fit in with your fall lessons.

After a day of visiting the pumpkin patch and hands-on activities, enjoy a great time as a family with one of these suggested books with a pumpkin theme. Reading is one of the best ways for kids of all ages to learn, so be sure to incorporate lots of books into your lesson plans.
