Matching Preschool Worksheets

Our Early Learning Mat Bundle is filled with matching preschool worksheets. These ten matching activities are a great way to keep young children engaged while they build their matching skills and fine motor skills.

Do you have a busy bee of a toddler who insists on doing seat work while you homeschool your older students like I do? My two year old LOVES to “do school,” and is adamant about being at the table as long as her older brother while he’s working.

I created this Early Learning Mat Bundle specifically with the two year old in mind. I know many homeschool mamas have preschool children who can make or break the homeschool day.

Enter the Early Learning Mat Bundle. Preschool kids will have their pick of fun with these ten matching preschool worksheets.

I highly recommend laminating these learning mats and their matching cards that go with them. I add clear velcro dots to the back of the cut out pieces and to each space on the learning mats for easy matching for my young children. The clear velcro dots keep the pictures from being covered and my kiddos build their find motor skills as they peel and stick the dots.

I give my two year old daughter three or four learning mats from this bundle a couple of times a week and rotate them with other activities. She loves each matching game and feels so proud of herself as she completes each one.

Building Skills for Young Learners

The Early Learning Mat Bundle not only keeps preschool children occupied, but also helps them build many skills while they enjoy a fun worksheet. Preschool classroom teachers will also find this bundle to be a great addition to their fine motor centers.

Each set of worksheets in this bundle has a different theme with a mat with nine pictures with different colors for each border and a page to cut out the matching picture cards. This matching activity gives preschool kids a fun little game where they match each card to the correct pictures on the mat.

Young learners will enjoy each matching game as they practice their visual discrimination skills, build vocabulary, and strengthen their fine motor skills. Students can work independently or with a partner on a learning mat that appeals to their interests.

With ten learning mats, each with a different theme, young children are sure to find a matching activity that they enjoy. Included themes in this bundle are: farm animals, pets, construction vehicles, around the town vehicles, air and sea vehicles, dinosaurs, zoo animals, fruits and vegetables, sports balls, and clothes.

On each of the matching picture cards is the name of the picture (except for the dinosaurs, because you know… dinosaur names). This provides preschool kids with environmental print and (even though they aren’t reading yet) they can build their vocabulary as they name the pictures.

My two year old daughter also loves our colors and shapes worksheets. I have them laminated as well with clear velcro dots attached and I include these in her rotation of activities to do while I work with my son.

Our Color Sort Learning Mat Bundle is perfect for her to work on her color recognition skills. I give her three or four color mats at a time along with the matching picture cards.

She works independently sorting the pictures cards. Afterwards we go over the color words for each mat she worked on.

As extra practice for her color recognition skills she does our Park the Cars learning mat from our Color & Size Learning Mat Bundle. She “parks” each car on the matching color parking spot.

This matching activity helps her work on her logical reasoning skills. When she parks a car on the wrong color and then moves on to another to do another car, I later see her realize she mad a mistake when she has the car that belongs in a spot she already covered. She then stops and figures out how to correct her mistake.

If you have kindergarten age kids working on color words, the Park the Cars learning mat also has a black and white version of the color words, so they have to read the color words to find the correct spot for each car.

Our Shapes Learning Mat Bundle provides young children with a matching game to practice their visual discrimination skills with shapes. In this bundle there is also an activity that you can use a tracing sheets with your preschool kids to learn how to draw different shapes.

We also have a bundle of free preschool math worksheets, our Summer Math Learning Mat Bundle. This free pdf download has a popsicle shape matching activity that my two year old loves as well.
