You can grab your free printables at the bottom of this post.

Thankful Tree Craft

This free thankful tree is the perfect activity to get in the spirit of the thanksgiving season by focusing on the things you are thankful for. Last year was our first year to do a thankful tree as a family and it was one of my favorite things we did throughout the month of November.

Provided in this printable set are pages of fall leaves and large tree trunk templates. You can simply print these on regular printing paper, cardstock, or even construction paper.

You can also take this printable template to your local print shop and it printed on a larger scale so there is more room for the entire family to write what they are thankful for. Of course, printing on regular sized paper works great too!

Another great idea is to make a copy of this free gratitude tree for each member of the family. Each person can have their own tree to place their paper leaves on for their personal use.

Each family member can keep their own individual thankful tree on the wall in their room, on their door, or in a journal. You can also put each person’s tree on a bulletin board or in the living room with name labels.

The printable leaves are provided in a variety of fall colors. Each family member can have an assigned color, or you can mix the colorful leaves together.

Feel free to print as many pages of the paper leaf and tree trunk templates as you need. Gratitude produces a heart of gratitude, so fill up that tree!

How To Use The Thankful Tree

Once you decide if you would like to do a collective thankful tree or give each family member their own individual thankful tree, hang the tree print where ever you would like. Then cut out the printable leaves and keep them in an easily accessible place to use throughout the month of November.

We begin on November 1st and do a thankful tree together as a whole family. As the kids get older we may switch to each having our own individual thankful tree.

Each day throughout the month we talk about how the day has been a great day. We share what things we did that day we enjoyed.

Then we transition into a simple thanksgiving lesson that the things we enjoy are things we can be thankful for. We have some great conversations about having a grateful heart.

We then decide on one thing to write on one of the colorful leaves. Again, as the kids get older we will probably switch things up and write more than one thing per day.

It would be a fun project to add this into your homeschooling time if you have kids that are a bit older. Each kiddo can have their own gratitude tree in a notebook or on a piece of construction paper.

Each day the kids can write what they are thankful for on the leaf templates and use a glue stick to glue it to the thanksgiving tree craft. Young kids can get a lot of practice with their fine motor skills and spelling by writing their own thankful leaves each day.

Then at the end of the month the entire family gathers together to read through all of the thankful leaves. This is a great activity to focus on grateful thoughts on Thanksgiving Day.

We read all of our leaves before Thanksgiving dinner. You could also take turns going around the thanksgiving table having each family member read a leaf until you get through all of the fall leaves.

This is a great way to add a gratitude activity into your Thanksgiving holiday to focus on having thankful hearts and not just enjoying a thanksgiving feast without any thankful thoughts at the dinner table.

What a perfect thanksgiving activity to open up the doors to some great conversations and to look back on the month with a heart of gratitude. This has become one of my favorite Thanksgiving traditions, and I hope it becomes one of yours too.

Fall Bingo

The Fall Family Fun Bundle also has a Family Bingo card to print out and enjoy as a whole family. This is a fun way to spend time together as a family and enjoy the fall season.

Full of fun ideas, each square has a wonderful way to spend time together as a family. And what better way to enjoy the season than with the people you love most.

You can mark off each square after you have a wonderful time completing the activity together. Make it fun for little kids and give them each a bingo card and little sheets of paper to cover each square as it’s completed.

If you aren’t able to complete every square make a goal to complete a row or column. Do what you can to try and spend more time together as a whole family.

Bible Verse Memory Cards

Also in this free bundle are twelve Bible verse memory cards. You can print these out and use them throughout the season.

You can print them on cardstock or laminate them to make them more durable. Try to memorize as many of these verses as you can throughout the fall season.

There are so many different ways you can use these card. You can print them for your personal use or make it a family activity.

You can work together to memorize a verse a week, use the cards to do copywork of the verses, or have a challenge to see who can memorize the most verses by the end of the season.

You can hole punch the cards and keep them on a ring or put a rubber band around them. Using these cards is a great exercise for memorizing Bible verses.
